He was ,to the Trap, what Caitlyn Clark ,was to College Basketball, Here's a Tale, about 2 youngmen, who took 2 Different Paths,Hard Times was all they Had,Yet they both, ended up Balling,After All...!
Most young Hustler's,started off , breaking in cars, and selling rocks. On the weekends, they were,At The Mall.
No referees in the Trap,if you get fouled, while playing Ball, who's going, to make the Call?
9 Times out of 10, Nobody! Then he said, getting knocked down, and hit in the head, taught him not to fear Nobody.
Then a coach driving through his hood, saw him at the Courts. He stopped and told his Passenger,His little ass ,needs to be playing Sports.
Excuse me young man, what's your Name? Then his Badd ass friend, stepped between them, hand filled with, rocks of Cocaine.
Everyone was looking, who is this Dude,on our Block,Mr...if your not , buying Rocks, you'd better leave fast, you might get Shot.
Derick would of sold Drugs too,but his Mother was strict, and he feared getting caught.
So, instead of mugging the gentleman,he accepted his Card, Every day he shot,a Thousand Jumpshots, whereas his ,best friend Omar, was already a Star.
Only 14 Years Old, Already whipping his ,Older Brothers Cars,Yo Derick...just tell me,where ya next game is, I'll pull up ,Wherever you Are.
Cool, then they exchanged Dap,see u later,at first they were, committing crimes together, but now Omar is noticing, with ball his boy, could go Far,For two different reasons, their in the Newspaper.
One for scoring 30 Points, and the other for , running 12 and Pulling Felonias Capers,Then a decade later, one gets Drafted by The Lakers, while the other one,is Confined to A Cell,He tried to keep it Together,But he had,one foot in Hell,Then one day,he recieved a letter in the Mail:
It read....
Dear Omar:
Minus you I never would have, made it this Far. Both are Mom's was on Crack but ,we had each other's Back. And when I got a Scholarship,u told me to leave, then you bought me a Car. Minus you,the Tree probably, wouldn't of had,any Ornaments, you sold Kilo's,the Ladies entertained your Ego,And I was playing in The NCAA Tournament.
I remember when ya uncle shot ya cousin, and instead of calling an ambulance, they used A Tourniquet.
Our Team ,had Aspirations for the Final Four,But made it to the Sweet Sixteen, and Everytime I landed at the Airport,You was there,in something Foreign to get Me.
Stop Ignoring me Homie, Here's My Number again, Don't wait til', Your released from the Pen,to F_ck With Me.
I never would of Got here without U,All I do is ,Talk about You. You taught me the Real Game, and I got a ,3 Month Old Son, I gave him your name, It's time to Change,No one to blame. In your words 'Give Me The Bread,F_ck The Fame!'
It was Signed Derick. And enclosed was a picture of him,his fiance and their Baby and his Beautiful Mother. (He remembered how when their was nothing at home in his refrigerator....she always made sure he ate too) Not only did they Have a huge sign in front of them that read ' Free Omar ' in red letters. It also said we Luv and Miss You.
Without Hesitation he balled up the letter and tried to hide his tears from the other inmates in his Unit. Emotion was not tolerated where he was and he even lived by that 'G-Code.'
Needless to say, proceeding that day ,he reached out and they spoke before and after every game.
Then the day he was released, his life changed,as if he exited a concrete building, and was picked up by a time machine. This was a dream and in 108 Months, things had surely changed.
Moving forward, together they healed from their childhoods, and returned home, where they grew up,to do the Same.
Then while Derick was away at The All Star Game. His 4Th Consecutive Selection,he himself, had a cheek filled with Tears. Why? Because Omar was over in the Front Row with his own lady. But what really got him was that Jayson Tatum was next to Omar and Omar had just signed him to his Brand New Sports Management Agency In Atlanta, Georgia. And it was Thriving like crazy.
It definitely fulfilled the void that Omar was experiencing while on Vacation. He never takes for granted his freedom, being able to help the less fortunate,or his Brother by Another Mother Derick Anderson!
This is why I say ,they both ended up Balling. And now they have a Sports Bar called '2 LEGIT 2 QUIT!'
Moral of the Story, Never Forget Where You Came From or who truly cares...
